Support Process for Students with Disabilities

②Ensuring Access to Academic and Employment Opportunities

To promote reasonable accommodation — including information access and communication support in academic and work settings, priority seating in classrooms, and secured access routes — we coordinate accommodation requests to course instructors and provide information on teaching materials and assistive devices.

③Collaboration within and beyond the University

We disseminate information to prospective students with disabilities through university joint information sessions and open campus events, advancing high school–university collaboration. We also collaborate with specialized institutions in the fields of medicine, welfare, education, and industry, and engage in community collaboration and contribution. In addition, we work in coordination with relevant offices within the university.

④Barrier-Free Campus Facilities

We work to develop barrier-free maps and improve on-campus facilities.

⑤Individual Support

We provide individual support for students and faculty/staff with disabilities, as well as group work activities.

⑥Training Peer Supporter Students for Disability Support

As part of human resource development for a globally inclusive society, we implement the Accessibility Leader Development Program (ALP).

Peer Supporter Student Training: Accessibility Leader Development Program (ALP)

  • Kyushu University Accessibility Peer Supporters

We are continuously recruiting and training peer supporters who work to improve physical, informational, institutional, and psychological accessibility for persons with disabilities, and who provide support for students with disabilities.

For details, please refer to the link below.
About Accessibility Peer Supporters

※ Peer supporter students who complete the required educational curriculum on disability support and actively participate in disability support activities on campus in a leadership capacity are certified as “Kyushu University Accessibility Peer Support Leaders.” The first leader was certified in FY2017, the second in FY2019, the third through fifth in FY2020, and the sixth and seventh in FY2021.
